The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is wear in the bottom corner edges. The sides of the bag have lost their structural pleats. The leather has developed a lighter honey patina with water spots throughout. The leather piping has rubbing. The leather trim has creasing and minor signs of wear. The handles have creasing at the bases as well as faint marks from the buckles resting on the leather. The handles also have faint soiling and the tops have developed a waxy texture from being held. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and fading. The interior has some spots, but otherwise is clean and still in good condition.
