The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there are very minor signs of fading throughout. The leather has developed a honey patina with water spots present. The leather piping has wear and slight soiling. The leather strap has heavy creasing throughout as well as several spots of soiling. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior lining has some stains and throughout there is a faint musk scent, but otherwise the interior is clean and still in good condition.
