The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior coated canvas is clean and beautiful with a faint scuff on the side. The leather overall has developed a light honey patina but shows some water spots. The strap and handles have light wear and creasing with a discolored handle from the handle fastener. The leather trim has light wear and rubbing at the bottom corners. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior lining shows some light wear, but otherwise is in great condition.
