The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful with some light creasing and faint rubbing to the bottom corners. The leather has developed a light honey patina with water spots. There is light wear and rubbing to the bottom corners of the leather piping. The strap and handles have light wear and creasing. The goldtone hardware shows minor hairline scratches and some fading in areas. The interior shows light rubbing, but otherwise is in great condition.
