The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean but does have creasing from being folded, and rubbing at the bottom corners. The leather trimmings and handles have developed a medium honey patina with wear throughout. The center leather strips have creasing and soiling throughout. The handles have rubbing, and scuffing to the leather. The glazed edges on the handles have wear and cracking. The side leather tabs have wear and black spots. The hardware has tarnishing and surface scratches throughout. The leather handle fastener and luggage tag have black marks and wear. The interior is clean and remains in good condition with light signs of rubbing. Overall this bag remains in good condition given its age!
