The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but throughout the suitcase there are scuff marks. On the front of the suitcase there is an area of rubbing that has worn through the canvas. The rubber trim along the front bottom of the bag has some warping. The anti-skid pads have scuffing and scratch marks. The rubber pads throughout the suitcase show signs of wear. The leather has developed a caramel patina, but overall there are stains, soiling and wear. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches but is still bright. One of the zipper pulls has bent. The interior lining is clean and overall in good condition.
