The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful with light creasing and has wear and rubbing at the bottom corners. The leather trim and handles are a nice medium honey patina with water spots. The leather piping has wear and rubbing especially at the bottom corners. The red patent leather has some creasing and peeling. The leather handles show light wear, a few pen marks, and light creasing. The hardware is bright and clean with a few minor hairline surface scratches. The interior lining is clean and in good condition, but does show some wear, light soiling, a few faint spots, and a musty odor.
