The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is minor wear in the bottom corner edges with a few faint scuff marks to the rear. The leather has developed a honey patina with heavy water spots, scuffing, and pen marks. The leather trim has overall creasing, wear, and some small dark marks. The handles have creasing, oil spots, hairline scratches, and wear. The leather piping has wear and rubbing, especially at the bottom corners. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior has some wear, some staining, and pen marks with a light food odor, but otherwise is in good condition.
