The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

Overall this bag has been well loved and it shows. The exterior canvas shows light signs of wear and smoothing to the bottom corners. The leather trim has developed a deep honey patina with soiling throughout. The right bottom corner piping has stains which has caused the patina to appear darker. The leather detailing above the structural pleats are soiled and show heavy signs of wear. The leather tab on the side also shows soiling and fraying to the edges. The hardware has surface scratches throughout. The leather shoulder strap has softened and shows light soiling and signs of wear throughout. The interior has visible signs of wear and fading to the textile but no significant odors.
