The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful with slight curling to the edges of the front pockets. The leather has developed a medium patina with water spots and creasing present. The leather piping has wear, rubbing and soiling to the bottom corners. The center buckle strap has water spots and creasing. The handles have wear, water spots, have darkened slightly from gentle use. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior is clean and in good condition, but does have a noticeable moth ball scent.
