The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is minor wear in the bottom corner edges. The leather has developed a light patina, but throughout there are water spots as well as wear. The rear zipper pull has soiling. The handles have slight signs of wear and the glazing has hairline cracks. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and the metal feet have fading. The interior lining has spots, but otherwise is clean and still in good condition.
