The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but along the edges of the bag there is rubbing, especially at the bottom corner edges. The leather has developed a honey patina with soiling and wear overall. The leather piping has rubbing throughout. The canvas shoulder strap has minor creasing from the slide adjuster but remains clean. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches but remains bright. The flap closure device has fading and scratches to the goldtone metal. The interior lining has some faint signs of rubbing and a couple spots, but is clean overall. Please note that the interior has a perfume scent.
