The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior coated canvas is clean and beautiful. The leather trim is a medium honey patina with wear and soiling throughout. The bottom trim and base have scuffing, rubbing, soiling and wear throughout. The handles have darkened and softened from use, they also have cracking, rubbing and wear to the leather and the glazing has wear and cracking throughout. The hardware is bright with surface scratches. The interior remains clean with some rubbing and light scuffing.
