The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and in good condition, but overall there is fading as well as scuff marks (please refer to photos). The leather has developed a dark patina and there are water spots as well as wear throughout. The handles have darkened and developed a waxy texture from being held. At the bases of the rear handle, the leather has very minor cracking as well as a faint pen mark (please refer to photos). The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior lining has pen marks as well as a slight musk odor. Otherwise the interior has no signs of heavy wear.
