The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is minor wear in the bottom corner edges, mostly to the leather. The leather has developed a caramel patina with water spots and signs of wear overall. The leather trim in the bottom corner edges has minor soiling. The leather trim along the opening of the bag has darkened and shows heavy creasing. The handles have overall creasing and wear. The shoulder strap has creasing and signs of wear mostly along the underside. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and flaking. The interior lining has some spots, but otherwise is clean and in good condition.
