The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is minor creasing overall. The bottom corner edges have wear. The leather has developed a honey patina with faint water spots throughout. The leather straps on the sides of the bag have light signs of wear. The leather trim on the opening of the bag has allover creasing and signs of rubbing. The handles have creasing at the bases as well as darkening and wear at the tops from being held. The tops of the handles have also developed a slight waxy texture. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior has heavy stains at the base, as well as a slight musk odor overall. Otherwise the interior is clean and still in good condition.
