The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is wear in the bottom corner edges, as well as minor scuff marks along the base. The leather has developed a dark honey patina with water spots throughout. The leather trim has soiling and along the top of the bag has developed a waxy texture. The handles have darkened heavily and also have a waxy texture from normal use. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior has spots throughout, there is a notable musk odor present, and the interior of the zip pocket has peeling. Otherwise the interior is still in good condition with plenty of life left in it!
