The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful throughout. The leather has developed a nice honey patina and water spots and soiling throughout. The leather piping shows rubbing and wear to the corners. The leather trim around the top of the bag has creasing, a pen mark and general soiling. The straps have rubbing and some creasing. The hardware has surface scratches overall. The interior has very minor wear primarily to the edges of the pockets, but otherwise in good condition.
