The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

Overall this bag is well loved but still has plenty of life left in it. The Monogram canvas is clean but shows visible creasing, especially along the base. The leather piping along the base has staining and the bottom corners show rubbing on them. The stitching on each of the chap at the base of the handles are coming loose. The leather at the base of the shoulder strap shows soiling and signs of use. The leather panel at the top of the bag shows wear and reveals fraying at the edges. The hardware is scratched and is also tarnished. The handles and shoulder strap have softened from use and the glazing along the edges is frayed and has lost its red sealant. The interior is clean but shows fading throughout the textile. The interior also has a cigarette odor.
