The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful with faint wear at the bottom corners. The leather overall has developed a medium honey patina with water spots and soiling. The leather trim has rubbing and wear especially to the bottom corners, with one corner rubbing through to the piping inside. The leather handles and strap have soiling and creasing with rubbing and wear to the glazing. The goldtone hardware has hairline surface scratches, but remains bright and crisp. The interior is clean and in good condition with some faint spots at the base and light signs of wear.
