The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful with minor wear along the edges of the base. The leather has developed a honey patina with overall water spots. The leather trim o the bag has wear throughout, while along the opening of the bag it has darkened. The handles have creasing and wear overall, with darkening at the tops as well as a waxy texture from being held. The bases of the handles have markings from the buckles. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior has a faint musk scent and a single pen mark, but otherwise is clean and still in good condition.
