The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but throughout there are faint signs of fading, visible only on a close inspection. The bottom corner edges have minor wear. The leather has developed a caramel patina with water spots present throughout. The leather trim overall has scuff marks. The canvas shoulder strap has creasing. The goldtone hardware has flaking and surface scratches. The interior lining has some scuff marks and a very faint musk scent, but otherwise is clean and still in good condition.
