The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and in great condition, but has creasing throughout. The bottom corner edges have light wear. The leather has developed a honey patina with water spots throughout. The leather trim on the bag has minor wear and creasing. The handles show wear to the undersides as well as the red glazing. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and some flaking. The interior is clean, but shows scratch marks throughout, otherwise there is no heavy wear.
