The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is creasing throughout. The leather has developed a honey patina, but overall there are heavy water spots. Throughout the leather on the bag there is wear and scuffing, as well as some oil stains (please refer to photos). The leather strap has overall wear and slight soiling. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches. The interior has some stains and a faint musk odor, but is otherwise clean and still in good condition.
