The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior coated canvas is clean and beautiful with faint wear and rubbing at the bottom corners. The leather trim and handles have developed a honey patina with scratches, tiny marks, soiling, and water spots. The handles have darkened areas and show soiling from use over time. The long strap has softened overall, darkened at the tops, and has black marks. The goldtone hardware is bright and clean with hairline surface scratches. The interior lining is clean and in good condition with pen marks and a few faint stains.
