The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but there is minor creasing around the top of the bag. The leather has developed a light honey patina, but overall the leather shows wear and water spots. The leather trim in the bottom corner edges has minor soiling. The leather trim at the bases of the shoulder straps shows signs of pulling. The shoulder straps have wear and have developed a waxy texture from being held. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and is flaking. The interior is clean and in good condition.
