The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but has minor scuffing and wear at the bottom corners. The leather overall has developed a honey patina with faint water spots. The leather piping has rubbing and wear, especially at the bottom corners. The handles have minor rubbing, wear, creasing, and some light black marks. The goldtone hardware is bright and crisp with minor hairline surface scratches. The interior is clean and in great condition, but has a few spots, scuffing, and minor soiling at the pocket.
