The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but throughout the canvas has softened and there is minor wear in the bottom corner edges. The leather has developed a honey patina with water spots visible overall. The leather piping has worn and there are cracks throughout. The leather side tabs have curled. The handles have allover wear and soiling, along with notable darkening. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and fading. The interior has some spots and there is glitter present on the lining, as well as a faint musk odor, but otherwise is clean and still in good condition.
