The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful throughout. The leather has developed a caramel patina with overall soiling and rubbing. The leather trim throughout the bag has wear and soiling especially at the corners. The shoulder strap has heavy creasing, scuffing, and has started to darken from being held. The ends of the strap have begun to curl. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and is starting to fade. The interior is clean with a few small stains and a pen mark, but is still in great condition.
