The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but throughout there are minor scuff marks. The bottom corner edges have wear. The leather has developed a light patina, however throughout there is wear, water spots, and soiling. The leather trim on the base of the bag has oil stains. The handles have wear and overall have softened from being held. The handles have also started to darken from being held. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches and fading. The interior lining has spots and a faint musk odor, but otherwise is clean and still in good condition.
