The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean and beautiful, but the bottom corner edges have minor wear. The leather has developed a light patina with overall water spots. Throughout the leather trim there is creasing and wear, the glazing has also faded (please refer to photos). The canvas straps have minor signs of rubbing. The goldtone hardware has surface scratches, but is still bright. The interior has a slight perfume scent, but otherwise is clean and still in good condition.
