The classic rounded shape with two straps is supposed to take the form and spirit of the butterfly (Papillon). It was originally designed by Henri Vuitton in 1966 and has become one of most endearing bags of Louis Vuitton's collection. This particular Papillon is the older model that features dark leather trimmings instead of the modern day vachetta leather handles. Retail price is $700.
The classic Monogram Canvas has been Louis Vuitton's trademark design since it was first introduced in 1896. The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is clean but has started to fade and crease throughout. The leather trim around the bag is peeling and has signs of wear. The leather trim up the center has heavy creasing throughout. The handles have discolored at the top as well as at the bases. The hardware has tarnished and darkened throughout, especially on the zipper pull, which has heavily tarnished. The interior lining has several stains and markings inside but is otherwise clean and in good condition.
