The classic Monogram Canvas has been Louis Vuitton's trademark design since it was first introduced in 1896. The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram's traditional look is also endured by its durability.

The exterior canvas is generally clean with natural creasing. The leather piping around the bag has developed a lovely honey patina. The handles have developed a very deep brown patina with heavy soiling and scuffs throughout. There are grey stains on both sides of the handles as well. The chaps at the base of the handles on the front of the bag have large spots. The studs at the base of the handles have started to tarnished and turn green. The hardware and zipper pull have tarnished and have noticeable scratches. The interior lining is generally clean and in excellent condition with a slight musk odor. The interior pocket was removed by a previous owner (refer to photo 12).
